    • The Children’s Medical Services (CMS) program provides children with special health care needs with a family centered, managed system of care. Children with special health care needs are those children under age 21 whose serious or chronic physical or developmental conditions require extensive preventive and maintenance care beyond that required by typically healthy children.

    • Medicaid is the medical assistance program that provides access to health care for low-income families and individuals. Medicaid also assists aged and disabled people with the costs of nursing facility care and other medical expenses.
      A family may be eligible for Medicaid if it earns a minimal monthly income or none at all, and owns little or no property. Anyone who receives public assistance, welfare, or SSI is eligible.
