LucasWorks was founded in 2004 to solve some of the problems that parents and caregivers face when raising a child with autism, PDD, or other developmental disabilities. Their Independent Living products teach basic living skills, like how to dress for the temperature. They have a variety of safety products to help you keep your child safe while at home, at Grandma's house, etc. They also have ID products that include places to list your child's meds and conditions. In addition to providing products that help the families of children with autism and developmental disabilities, the goal at LucasWorks is to employ these students as they finish school. LucasWorks provides a training ground through the local school district for students with autism and developmental disabilities to learn job skills as they assemble and ship the products. The goal is to employ them when they finish school. The LucasWorks website hosts valuable information. The Nemours Children's Clinic - Jacksonville (NCC-J) is housed in a modern, 11-story building conveniently located in the downtown area of Jacksonville on the south bank of the St. Johns River. New Hope for Kids: Center for Grieving Children

In 1985 the Wish Program was founded as a not-for-profit charity to grant wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses who have not yet reached their 18th birthday nor had a wish granted previously. A life-threatening illness is defined by New Hope for Kids as any illness which will in all likelihood shorten the child's full life expectancy. Since its beginning, more than 1200 wishes have been granted. Although the New Hope for Kids Wish Program is not able to cure the life-threatening illnesses of their wish children, it is proud to grant wishes and provide follow-up support in order to lighten the burden for the children and their families and improve the quality of time remaining in the child's life.

The Family Village is a web site for children and adults with cognitive and other disabilities, their families, and their friends and allies. Family Village brings together thousands of online resources in a organized, easy-to-use directory. The centerpiece of Family Village is the library, where visitors can find information on over 300 diagnosis. Visitors can also learn about assistive technology, legal rights and legislation, special education, leisure activities and much more.

Helping children overcome disabilities and developmental delays is a community effort, one that requires commitment, generosity, innovation, and leadership.

For nearly 50 years, United Cerebral Palsy of Central Florida, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) agency, has been making life better for those who need our help the most--children working to overcome disabilities resulting from a variety of conditions, including cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, spina bifida, autism, and others. Today, more than 1,600 children and their families receive services in our six child development centers, in their homes and in the community. Since 2001, our centers have been designated as preschool charter schools in Orange, Seminole, and Osceola counties, providing tuition-free education for eligible children from birth to age 5. We also provide outpatient pediatric physical, speech, and occupational therapy, as well as family support for children up to age 21 at six locations.
